The annual Aidex sports day for the disabled which is put on and run by the Colombo Friend in need society of Colombo (CFINS) got under way at 9:00 am on Sunday 11th October. OIAL have been sponsors for some of the participants and the prizes for several years.

We had a particular interest this year because one of the participants was a young boy (14 on 11.10.15)  who is  a bi-lateral amputee, and only has one arm, whom we sponsored last year to have a plate put into his leg to facilitate him being able to use his artificial limb properly. He looked well after his surgery and was running this year in the hundred yards, under fifteen years…. He came second.

The event is organised for all the amputees and their families treated by CFINS and fitted with artificial limbs, whether arms or legs annually and is a testimony as to how they try to lead a normal life as possible.

We have been involved in this work for around seven years and have sponsored many limbs which can cost as little as £ 60 each. Janice and Ian have made it a point to attend the sports day for the last 4 years so as to physically show our support actively on this very big day for the contestants and the hard working committee of CFINS.
