JANUARY 2017 VISIT

During our last visit in May 2016 we experienced appalling weather on the Western side and glorious sunshine in the Central/North Eastern area.    This time it was the opposite.    As soon as we arrived in Habarana the heavens opened and it rained solidly for 8 days.   This brought great relief to the people especially the farmers who had experienced a drought for over four months.   It made our work a little difficult but we managed to see 95% of the projects.

We saw well over 100 projects scattered over a large area including the mountainous region round Pussellawa.   This included 5 of our 6 Montessori Schools, all the sponsored children, past and future projects.   All the past projects were completed and we selected 24 new ones.  We distributed clothing, books, pens, crayons and pencils and many food packs.   We attended an opening ceremony at a Montessori where we had doubled the size of the building.   The number of children attending has increased from 15 to 45.

We visited the Lawrence Hyde Boys Home in Kandy where we have been involved in major improvements and brought cakes and food for the boys.

An example of our work :

An old couple lived in a mud hut that had partially collapsed in the rain.   We constructed a new house, provided a bed (they slept on the floor), gave them a food pack and added them to our list of sponsorships.   They will be visited on every occasion by us.

We sincerely thank everybody for their support.
