We first went to visit Fr.Titus Rodrigo who has for the past many years organised the Christmas Card Competition.  We met the First Prize winner and gave her a plaque and a small prize.   We gave FR TITUS some clothes to give to poor children.  He runs woodworking classes for local children and we gave home sanding belts for the woodworking machines.   

 

We then drove to Kotmale and Pussellawa located in Central Sri Lanka and visited several projects for consideration.  We gave food packs, clothing and books to families and a Montessori School located on a Tea Estate. As there is a high wall on one side at this School we are considering providing protective fencing plus it would provide much needed security.    Other potential projects were inspected most only accessible by Tuc Tuc and steep pathways through forested areas. 

 

After completing our work at Kotmale we drove up to Kandy and then headed North to the large town of Dambulla.  We met Fr Wasana who used run the Lawrence Hyde Boys Home in Kandy where we organised an extension of the building several years ago.  We discussed a couple of projects with him.  

 

Next we drove North East to Habarana our main base of activities.   We spent the following 9 days driving on rough tracks to see the last phase of Projects and approve the next phase.   We also saw the many successfully completed toilet projects.  We saw all the sponsored children and visited some of our Montessori Schools.  We donated 60 Food Packs and a large amount of clothing/soft toys and exercise/painting books, pencils and pens.  It takes a long time to visit all these projects as they are located in an 80 mile radius in rural Sri Lanka.  It is quite exhausting as it is in one of the hottest areas of Sri Lanka. On our way we saw several wild elephants , snakes, mongoose, monitors, tortoises and many, many monkeys!
