SUMMARY OF MAY 2016 TRIP

Apart from Flight Delays, an aborted landing in a storm and Stomach Bug the trip was a success.

The Heavy rains stayed with us for 5 days. We Managed to visit our 4th School in the mountains near Pusselawa and one of our sponsored children living nearby on a Tea Estate.

We looked at 3 possible projects, one near Kotmale Lake in the Mountans and the others in Wahacotte which is about 20 Miles from Dambulla.

We then travelled to Habanara which is more to the East of Central Sri Lanka.  The weather was a complete change with wall to wall sunshire for 8 days.  The temperature at midday was approaching 100 degrees and it was difficult work!

We were able to travel each day down rough tracks.  We inspected the last phase of projects and all were completed.  We saw Many other projects and selected 15 (1 Community Centre & 14 Houses).

We sent a youngish man who had his leg amputated to the Kandy Centre for the fitting of an artifficial limb. We saw our schools and each had up to 40 Children.  We attended one of our English Classes and over 50 Children were present.

We saw our sponsored children and took on two more.  We distributed a large amount of shipped clothing, books and toys together with many food packs.

We then drove across the island to the West Coast to near Chilaw and inspeted a possible projet.  We distributed clothing to flood victims.

We returned to the UK after 17 days.
