UPDATE OF OCTOBER 2015 VISIT

The monsoon rains hits us with a vengeance with torrential rains every day but luckily mainly in the afternoon.   Apart from one day we were able to navigate the tracks and the roads were dry the following morning.

We travelled over 1,500 km’s from up near Chilaw, North of Colombo and across to Kandy and the Habarana/Pollonaruwa area and up to Pusselawa in the mountains.

We have two new possible projects in near areas near Chilaw and Wahakotte which is located between Kurunegala and Dambulla in the central region.

25 projects were satisfactorily completed.   They comprise roof works to two medical centres, a swing for a Montessori School and the other 22 projects were improvements or replacements to mainly mud hut homes.

We approved the next phase of 31 projects.    They comprise works/improvements to 29 houses and two small shops.

We saw all the sponsored children and are reporting to the various sponsors.   They are all well.

We saw two of our Montessori Schools and opened our 6th little School which was completed at below the budgeted cost and was finished in four months.   We hope to organise a limb replacement for a middle aged lady.

We decided to increase the donation of food packs as the heavy rains were preventing labourers from working in the fields.   If they do not work there is no way for them to receive any income.   Many families were suffering and the food packs we provide give them three/four weeks food supplies.

We shipped three tea chests of clothes, books and toys and these together with the contents of two further cases taken on the aircraft.     These were all distributed to needy families.   We would like to sincerely thank everybody who donated these items.
